How Nami Bot Works

Understanding your AI assistant for reviews, surveys, and feedback

2 min read

Nami is your AI-powered assistant that lives inside Slack. Instead of filling out web forms, Nami guides you through reviews, surveys, and kudos via direct messages — right where you already work.

What Nami Does

  • Performance reviews — self-assessments, peer reviews, manager reviews, and upward feedback
  • Kudos — type /kudos in any Slack channel to send quick feedback to a teammate
  • Pulse surveys — anonymous check-ins sent by HR
  • Deadline reminders — automated nudges so nothing slips through the cracks

The Interaction Flow

When a review cycle launches, Nami sends you a DM with context (cycle name, deadline, who you are reviewing) and two buttons:

  1. "Let's go" — starts the review immediately
  2. "Remind me later" — Nami will check back in a few hours

Once you begin, Nami walks you through each question:

  • Rating questions — tap a button from 1 (Below expectations) to 5 (Outstanding)
  • Text questions — type your response directly in the chat
  • Confirmation — review your answers and hit Submit

Tip

Nami saves your progress. If you close Slack and come back later, your previous answers are still there.

Reminder Schedule

Days Before DeadlineReminder
7 daysFriendly first nudge
3 daysFollow-up reminder
1 dayFinal urgent reminder

Info

Reminders are de-duplicated. Completing your review stops all future nudges for that assignment.

App Home Tab

Open the Nami app in Slack and click the Home tab to see pending assignments, recent kudos, and quick links to the web dashboard.

Troubleshooting: No Message from Nami

  1. Confirm the Nami app is installed in your workspace (ask your admin).
  2. Check that your Slack account is linked by signing in to the dashboard via Slack OAuth.
  3. Look in your Slack DMs under Apps for "Nami."
  4. If the issue persists, ask your admin to verify your Slack User ID on the Team page.

Warning

Nami can only message users whose Slack accounts are linked to Nami. If you joined after the cycle launched, ask your admin to add you and re-trigger notifications.
