Everything you need to know after signing in to Nami for the first time

What is Nami?

Nami is a Slack-native performance management platform. Instead of switching between apps or filling out clunky forms, your entire review workflow happens right inside Slack — a friendly AI assistant guides employees, managers, and admins through performance cycles, feedback, goals, and more.

Your Dashboard at a Glance

After signing in, you land on the Overview dashboard. This is your personal command center showing:

  • Pending reviews that need your attention
  • Recent kudos you have received or sent
  • Active goals and their current progress
  • Upcoming deadlines for any open review cycles

Everything is updated in real time, so you always know what needs action next.

How Nami Works

Nami is the AI assistant that lives in your Slack DMs. When a review cycle starts or feedback is requested, Nami sends you a direct message. The flow is simple:

  1. You receive a DM from Nami with context about the task.
  2. Click "Let's go" to begin.
  3. Answer each question one at a time directly in the chat.
  4. When you finish the last question, Nami confirms and submits your responses.

There is no time limit on individual questions. You can answer at your own pace throughout the day.

Tip

If you are in the middle of something, click "Remind me later" and Nami will follow up at a better time. Your progress is saved automatically.

What to Do First

Your first steps depend on your role:

  • Employees — Visit the Goals page and create your first objective. When Nami messages you, reply to complete any pending reviews.
  • Managers — Check the My Team page to see your direct reports and their review status. You can also send kudos via /kudos in Slack.
  • Admins — Head to Settings to configure your workspace, set up departments, and create your first review cycle from the Cycles page.

Info

Your name, profile picture, and department are automatically synced from your Slack workspace. If anything looks wrong, ask your workspace admin to update it in Slack and the changes will appear in Nami within a few minutes.

Next Steps

Once you are comfortable with the basics, explore Cycles to understand how review periods work, or dive into Competencies to see how skills are tracked across your organization.
